Have you caught yourself wondering, “how do the dams on the Yuba River impact water quality?” or “what is going to happen to my favorite swimming hole during this drought?” If the answer is yes, then the State of the Yuba is your chance to learn about SYRCL, meet our staff and ask those burning questions during our postering sessions before and after the main program.

Bring your appetite and a friend to the Peace Lutheran Church on Wednesday, April 22 where SYRCL staff will deliver our annual report to the community including presentations on our work to protect the health of the river, respond to the worsening drought, monitor impacts on water quality, restore Yuba salmon and much more. Come early and talk to staff at stations representing our major programs.

Tables with materials and representatives from several of our partner organizations will be featured as well. Are you interested in the proposed Parker Reservoir Project? You can talk to folks with the Foothill Water Network to learn how they plan to address the project. Are you wondering what is happening with the Bridgeport Covered Bridge restoration? Representatives from the South Yuba River Park Association will be there to answer questions. Do you want to learn more about the San Juan Ridge Mine? Talk to the San Juan Ridge Taxpayers Association to hear the latest updates.

SYRCL’s work is also guided by a strategic action plan. “At the State of the Yuba, we will give updates on major accomplishments from the Strategic Action Plan and also highlight exciting projects to be executed in the next three years,” said Caleb Dardick, SYRCL Executive Director.

The grassroots volunteerism SYRCL was founded on thirty two years ago is still the ethos of our organization. Volunteers are the lifeblood of SYRCL. They pack the power in our work whether it is removing seven tons of garbage from the river in a day, surveying the recently replanted banks of the Lower Yuba River, or restoring fragile mountain meadows. Come to SYRCL’s State of the Yuba on Earth Day, learn about the Yuba River and join us as we work to restore and protect the watershed.
